calf sheath???

I want to carry a knife about Camp Tramp or Ratwieler size while I am hunting. I want it to be handy to clear shooting lanes (cut down briars and branches). But I do not want it hanging on my belt. It would knock against the tree stand and be uncomfortable when sitting. The fall harness also would hamper accessing it in a normal belt sheath. I thought about it, and think it would be great strapped to the inside of my calf. Has anyone ever heard of a sheath like this?? Who would make such a sheath?

That's a spot that would really bother me to have a knife. Personally, I would look toward drop holsters which have an articulation below the belt. For instance, this sheath was made by Dwayne (aka leatherman) and can be found at http://www.armoralleather.com .

With an additional strap to the thigh, this sheath style is very comfortable and stays out of the way of backpack straps or rappelling/fall harnesses, yet keeps your knife within easy reach at all times.

Hope this helps.

Agree with 360. trid to wear my dive knife on inside of thigh. Didn't ever seem to get it comfortable. Moved it to outside calf position.

A drop thigh rig sounds like something I'd look into. For me I'll carry it on my alice belt till I get to my tree, then transfer it to the back pack. Don't need anything extra to clank while sitting in my stand.

Good luck

Keep sharp.
