Can you bring a NMFBM into the woods in yosemite for a week long hiking trip. blade length 11in?

Not sure about 'NF', but FBM is Fusion Battle Mistress, correct? I don't think Cali has a length limit, but it must be worn openly. I don't think anyone would bother you about it while backpacking, but I wouldn't recommend carrying it around Yosemite valley. Tourists can be excitable.

Oh, he means this thing:

Fixed blades can be carried openly in a belt sheath according to state statute and are not subject to any length limit. Be warned that you will be subject to county, city, and local park rules however. Far as I can tell though, Yosemite actually recommends a knife as useful gear: http://www.nps.gov/archive/yose/sar/hikesafe.htm

the NM is for nuclear melt down FBM fusion battle mistress...it has an 11.25 inch blade vs a 10 on a plain FMB...

That's a big ol' blade. I hear good things about INFI; it's a flying shame it's so expensive heh

You'll get a few snide comments from granolas, but when I was researching park regs I didn't see anything limiting blade size on knives.

I have a friend who is a local forestry official, and he is a fellow knife guy. He told me that there is a federal limit to the length of a fixed blade on federal land. IIRC, it was an 8" limit. He brought it up to me when I was showing him my FBM.

I fail to believe that is a strictly enforced code (or even a valid one). Many here would have had experiences to let us know about the limit if there was one.

As for CA, I cant comment on its state laws, I am happy here in OR!

I would be very interested to learn where your friend found that law. I always like to know what's out there, in case a ranger asks. Would you mind inquiring where he read about the 8 inch limit?

Thanks a bunch,
