California Auto Knife

Just an FYI, William Henry makes an auto Spryte that would be legal in CA as well. Had a chance to play with one in a store and it was a cool, albeit little knife. Just a thought.

make sure if you're thinking about buying one, its not just a flashy gimmick. You want something that has practical use, and isn't gonna be breaking.

I've met Boyd several times at shows and handled his knives. His is a good 'ol boy and very personable. I have not bought one, however, due to the small size and the fact that I am a Lefty.(plus the cost, they run about 90 bucks.) I asked for a left-hand version, but retooling would up the price too much. I can't recall the blade steel, but I'm guessing 440.

He has been working on an "out-the-front" unit that has interested me. (still in prototype) The fit and finish on the production models are good and you can usually find one of these at a gun or knife show if you'd like to handle one before buying. If you collect autos then I would say go ahead and get one, at least you can legally carry it in the Republic of Kalifornia. He offers a nice variety and they're made in the good old USA. I would spend the 90 bucks toward a more tactical design, myself.

My son picked up an original model in carbon fiber from Boyd at the Eugene show a few years back. It is well made and a nice little snaper. I also agree with dsvirsky on the GT. It is one of my favorite mini's.

I've got one that looks just like it from Delta Z. Probably the same manufacture. It's a neat little knife but overpriced for the low quality. Slight up-down blade play. Pro-Tech has the Runt and the Stinger that are much better for about the same price.

Ive got one that my sister bought me a looong way back...I think when they were first introduced. I love mine, its a neat little knife....strong snapper.
