California autos?

I am curios about the logistics of owning an auto in CA.
The way I understand the stickie chart at the top of this page, I may legally own an auto. I would not be able to carry it if over 2" but it appears to be OK to keep in my home.
If I am correct in the first statement; how do I legally purchase one? And is interstate purchase legal or gray? Also could I purchase one in person from a shop in NV or AZ without violating laws?
Thanks

anyone can buy a 'ca legal' auto with a blade under two inches and carry it legally. larger knives will be difficult to purchase as the retailers who carry them typically only sell to military/law enforcement.

try out of state purchase. law regarding possession only applies to personal carry or in a vehicle. no law that i could find that would restrict you having one and enjoying it at home.

try arizonacustomknives.com

Thanks,
That was what I was looking for.
The way I understand it I can order from an online retailer and have it shipped to me legally. But probably not FROM california.
Thanks for the url, honestly I was looking more along the lines of a used Benchmade or something from the clonebay like a picklock. Not looking for an investment grade auto, as it won't be a user, I don't care to much about quality, just something flashy, that I won't get hurt handling.

Thanks

cool. but i will venture speculation that once you get your hands on an auto, you will want more. the first quality knife i bought was a benchmade pardue auto about 13 years ago. i eventually had a couple microtechs, great knives, though expensive. they make fantastic otf's. i prefer the benchmade side openers.

protech also makes some nice autos, more reasonably priced.
