I just got home from the bush bash where we had the neck knife challenge. Most of the partipants are still there (including the person who will tally and report on the final results of the neck knife challenge) but I had to return tonight.
First, a few pictures around where we camped
The majority of the participants
The food was good, I made dutch oven peach cobbler last night, and scones for breakfast. Sasha brought a bunch of chicken feet (sadly, he didn't cook them while I was there
). The shooting competition ended in a tied score for the winner, and I lost in sudden death (I'll let the winner post his pictures and gloat).
It didn't take us long to find more fatwood, the Ponderosa Pine there is a good producer
Although it came at a price - one of the guys was using my Wetterlings to pry apart a fatwood stump after wedging it in, and broke the handle
. Oh well, a quick trip to Home Depot will fix that.
And for the question that I know is on everyone's mind - who won the neck knife challenge? Well, I don't know yet, the tally sheets are in Jason's possession and he didn't have a calculator there to tabulate everything. So we will all have to wait. I will say that there were some surprises - some that we thought would do well did not, and some that we did not have high expectations for did quite well. I know which one I would have taken home if we could have done so. I have individual closeup pictures of all the entries, but I didn't have time to upload them, so for now this group shot will have to do
