California clip versus regular clip blade on stockman

Looking for some traditional forum help and information on Case stockmen. I have a 3318 with the slender clip blade and would like to get a bone handle in the 18, 47 or 75 pattern with the slender clip. Each time I look at the catalog or on line it shows what looks like the slender clip blade (California I think) and when I get it, it’s the regular clip blade shape. Old Red Pocket Worn as example.
Does Case have a set blade choice or very from one production run to the next?
Thanks
Bob

You typically find the California Clip blade in older Case XX 63047 patterns. They have not used this blade in the current production 47's for many years. Also the newer 47's don't have liners between the main blade and smaller secondary blades like the pre 1990 versions.

I don't recall the '75 pattern stockman ever having a California (slender) clip blade. I'd go so far as to guess it's never had it. The only large-framed knives that I've seen the California clip on are perhaps large Muskrat patterns (2 identical clip blades, opposing from each end), and I don't know if Case has ever made that large pattern, though I think others have. The 6275 Moose pattern (opposing clip & long spey) also uses a standard clip blade. Case's other large-framed stockman, the 6392 pattern, also used a standard clip.

Edit:
Case did produce a designated 'Muskrat' pattern (no pattern number; 'Muskrat' was the pattern stamp). Fairly large, but completely different frame, at 3-7/8" with round bolsters and two slender clips.

18 pattern has the California clip besides the old red pocketworn where u can get a regular clip blade. Now, some 47 patterns came with a California clip. Last year they was produced was 1999; and it was a four blade with a coping instead of a punch.

California is a bit more slender than a regular clip point. California on the left, regular on the right.

Please excuse the bad pic, it makes it appear that the left knife is not a clip point, it is though. Just a bad camera angle. But you get the point. No pun intended there. :o

Thanks to all for the information. So it looks like I will need to pick the 18 pattern. I just need to figure how to confirm which ones have the California Clip. WR Case web site shows what looks like both.
