Hey everyone so im interested in getting my new fixed blade. I've never had one cause i haven't needed one since i live in the city. Southern California near the beach actually. The laws are it has to be open carry and can't be a dagger. So it must have a guard. I'm looking for something small to medium size. my other knives are made with elmax and S35vn steel and i dont know much about some of the steels used for fixed blades.

The legal definition of dagger does not mean a double edged blade. A pencil or screwdriver will meet the legal criteria for a dagger.

Having a guard also has no bearing on it being a dagger either, as far as I have read.

Legally the only requirement regarding fixed blades is that they not be concealed.
You mentioned looking for something small to medium in size. The Cold Steel Drop Forged Bowie would be.a good choice, tough as nails, affordable and sharp as a razor right out the box.

Fresno County has no municipal restrictions that supersede state law.

I actually like the sog seal pup a lot. thanks for the recommendation
The steel isn't premium, but their aus8 holds an edge pretty well for an EDC fixed blade, plus you can put it in whichever direction you need if you're a lefty like me and if you EDC a multitool it's sheath will hold it making room on your belt.
I love my Leatherman fuse in it's leather sheath, but when I EDC the seal pup I like being able to have one less thing on my belt so nothing has to ride above my pocket and get in the way.
For only 35$ many places right now it's a pretty good value, I never would've bought one because I'm not huge on it's looks but thanks to a pay it forward thread and Billk it has grown on me and I don't mind it's looks so much now.

I heard their AUS8 is decent and i don't need a super steel to edc. Do they still make the special kydex sheath? with the belt/pocket clip and sharpener and other stuff? i just saw a video from cutlerylover where he was showing it.

mine is the nylon sheath with the plastic liner, but I think a kydex one comes with the seal pup elite.
It's not the special one, but you can Google it to find out.
