Just saw this little beauty. It looks surprisingly modern to me. Blade is about 7" long. The display said it had "California Knife" stamped on the tang.

Vvery cool, I don't remember that knife being on display the last time I was there.
I saw it in the Museum room. There was also an army dragoon sword and pistol, should have snapped a pic of that as well. I'm sure they rotate items from time to time.

Yes please! That is dang cool knife. It'd me a sweet every day carry knife for IWB or boot, if it wasn't real heavy. Pretty sweet.

Incidentally, if I'm not mistaken, the example from the auction I shared ended up in the hands of someone who posts (or used to post) in this forum. I could be wrong though.

I wonder, if the knife in the museum, and the knife from the auction, are one and the same. That would be a trip.

EDIT: judging by the stains on the blade, no.

I agree with your edit. Also, as I mentioned, I believe the one I posted is in a private collection now, and I imagine it would be displayed with its scabbard.

Here is some examples from my collection.

Nice! I hadn't seen an exemplar like the one on the left, I think.

The other one is the same from the auction I linked earlier, right (if you don't mind me asking)? Is the tip of the scabbard (which I presume to be leather-covered cardboard) totally broken off, or is still hanging in one piece?
