I really really hated the black plastic stock on the Savage mk2 that I bought from my brother a few days ago.
I started by painting it a jungle stripe sorta camo that looked cool but I wasn't 100% happy with how one side turned out.
Today after work I decided to bite the bullet on attempting an idea I've had in my head for a long time, and my inner BUBBA came out.
The question
What if a rifle had a different camo on each side ?

I think the concept of having 2 different camoflauges on something is cool, but maybe better suited to the front and back scales of a knife or something like that than on a rifle stock.

It's definitely something different that's for sure. I can always strip the paint off if I really don't like it, but will be replacing this with a factory hardwood stock as soon as I can get a line on one anyways.

I was kind of inspired by reversible helmet covers, the WW2 usmc frogskin or Vietnam USGI Mitchell that have a jungle / woodland color on one side and arid version on the other.
it's a pointless novelty paint scheme, but at least it's not a punisher skull or flames.
Kinda reminds me of when I work with sheephorn. Same knife, same set of sheephorn scales:

Bubba happens. I know, I know three Bubbas.

I found a mk2G stock that I took a gamble on ( Savage reserves them for warranties and won't sell them ) but it turned out to be a previous gen stock so I had to fit and refinish it.

I made a single piece bottom metal instead of needing a trigger guard, bottom plate, & additional screws.

And I made a base for a Williams WGRS-54 peep that I have.

I'm just waiting on the longer stock mounting screws to arrive from Savage, and for the scope mount screws that I bought to arrive.
Then I can assemble the gun, mount the peep, and determine how much taller of a front sight I might need.
I will also need to make a decorative dovetail filler to replace the rear sight with.

The peep sight base seems to have been quite a success, it got marked up a bit and I might want to re-blue it but otherwise it's good to go.

I don't know for sure yet whether I need a taller front sight, and won't be able to take some test shots till I've got some free time on a day when it's not 110°f outside.

I've dealt with enough peeps to know this is most likely going to need a taller front sight, so I'll start figuring out what I need and looking around.
I can make a taller front sight which I've done before, but it's not exactly pretty and I'm really not up to it.
Besides front sights are not very expensive anyways.
