No kid, no wife, just a man and his fishing pole. :) Life is good.

Looks nice, but being from the West Coast...I'd be too worried about Mr. Alligator to sleep much at night!

They were all over the place,, they get that way when the waters low. One woke me last night, he must have grabbed something big the splash was tremendous. Don't you guys have lions and bears. Critters are one of the best parts of the whole deal.

Don't catch that Gator though

No need to, I had a few cans of sardines and some hot sauce with me. :)

When I was living in Miami, I spent many a weekend at Fish Eating Creek.

Thanks for the pics :)

Me too!

I'd want to sleep in the back of the truck with critters like that roaming about.

Living in the UK, the most fierce beasts we get to see are these.

Awesome shots. I really need to get my canoe up and running. I have a Bell Morningstar (which is awesome) but it doesn't have a center seat and is a pain to kneel in!!!

Soon, though. Maybe I'll make that my next project instead of another knife!

fantastic pics got to love those cypress trees. we have gators south of here especially in choke canyon lake near corpus christi.never heard of a problem & we slept in tents many times. gators love to eat turtles & carp. you're right about wildlife, the outside would not be fun w/o the animals.

What are you talking about? Last I read, you guys had Werewolves and Hounds...:D

Awesome photos! Looks like a great area to get away from it all. Looks like it could easily become maneatingcreek if you let your guard down at the wrong time. Reminds me of the Hillsborough River in Tampa.

I'd be worried that a gator would drag me out of my tent:eek: You're a braver man than I.
Awesome pics. My Jealousy Level Indicator is around 9.8 at the moment. Nothing but torrential rain here ALL weekend.

Oh, my God. That's horrible,

Looks like a great time. Were the mosquito's thick?

Not bad, Friday just for about an hour and a half and not even that long on Saturday, this is the time I light up a big stinking cigar and that drives the little blood suckers off.

One of the big selling point for the Mohawk Nova 16 was that reversed, paddling backwards from the front seat really levels out the aspect of the canoe, the bow does rise a slight bit, if the wind comes up and I need to lower it I have a very stiff 6 pack cooler that I slide from under my seat, move forward and sit on it until the wind subsides or I can get into a lee shore.

Ya'all a bit nervous around these lizard are ya, it ain't like there Outback or Nile Crocs, as far as these critters go though they can be pretty dangerous, mostly because they are familiar with humans and some of the idiots feed them. I picked a spot that had a fair bunch of rocks between camp and the creek. See the first picture.

No bother in a canoe, right?

Right, I've never been bothered by a gator, big ones can be aggressive and I would choose not to swim knowing big ones are around but wouldn't be terrified if I wound up in the water with a few. The closer you get to civilization the more dangerous they become.
