Hello all, I am new in the neighborhood so if a thread like this already exists please let me know. If not, this is the question. I am considering the purchase of a Camillus C.U.D.A EDC with 154 CM. I am planning on using it as an EDC for situations that require a suit. Weddings for example. A good friend has the MAD MAXX Bowie and loves it. I have been a lock back or axis person and have some reservations about the frame lock. Any help would be appreciated.

I am guessing you are concerned about the framelock disengaging as linerlocks are known to do from a heavy grip. The Frame lock won't do that as your hand is making direct contact with the lock and actually increasing the lock pressure. Also, these framelocks were designed by Darrel Ralph. He ranks as one of the best frame lock makers out there and Camillus has stayed to his designs on these knives. You will be pleased with either knife. They are both extremely strong and very ergonomic.

If you want more insight, try a search of the Camillus forum for any other questions.

The frame lock is strong and solid. I had reservations about this knife (don't like small knives) and I once I got one I love it. The knife is a great EDC (hence the name) it is a small knife that doen't feel all that small (I know that does not make scense..oh well). Anways, great little knife I doubt you will be disappointed.

take care

Never have a problem with a good liner lock, and problems like the liner slipping doesn't happen much on a frame lock, not as much as liners.
I have absolutely no problems with Spyderco's linerlocks though. I own one and have seen another 2, and they all lockup very well.

I carry mine every day. That's the strongest endorsement I can give. The frame lock is as solid as they come, and the handle is very comfortable for me although I have big hands. My only issue with it is that from the factory, the edge is far too thick. I've had to spend a great deal of time thinning out the edge to make it an efficient cutter. You may get a better one than I did though, and if not, once you have ground it down to a thin edge, it cuts very well.

First EDC I got was a lemon. Blade play, lock sliding across to touch the opposite scale - the works. Sent it back to Camillus. Got excellent customer service and the replacement has been faultless. Solid little knife with a nice slim style. Looks like you are planning to use it the way I do.

When I go to the city for business meetings or social occasions I;

1) Shower

2) Throw the King Gee's in the washer

3) Put on some nice threads

4) Take off the G-Shock and swap it for my Omega SMP

5) Put the Millie in the drawer and clip on the EDC.

I have carried one for several months myself and love it. Great knife and a great value given the blade steel that it comes with. I have given three as gifts. Two of them went to non-knife people who also loved the knife. I wouldn't have given them anything with a lock that I wasn't 100% sure would be soild for them (100% without counting gross misuse or a terrible accident that is). Looks great, feels good in the hand and the blades "cuts" bigger then it is.
