Calling experts - possible counterfeit question.

On another forum, I'm interacting with a guy who is having trouble sharpening his BK11 - I think the thread is really just his platform to bash Beckers but whatever. At any rate he made a comment that made me suspicious about the knives he actually has, so I posted this pic of a bona fide Becker for him so he could see the NY stamp.

He responded: 'All three say KaBar - Becker, no country/city/region of make... the boxes all say "Sheath made in Taiwan"'

He claims to be talking about a BK11, BK2 and BK7 the he purchased from I don't know where. My question is this. Do any legit versions of the knives mentioned lack the Olean, NY USA stamp? Alternatively, anyone aware of bogus BK11, BK2 or BK7s out in the wild?

Yeah I know the thread you are talking about, Ive read it and chimed in some... There have been threads on here in the past showing fake Beckers being sold on that auction site, whats it called? :barf:
 
He claims he got the 2 and 7 from SMKW and the 11 from some other forum member. Trying to get accurate and reliable info from him is exhausting but now I'm curious.
 
Some people are just CDSR through and through.
 
He is just a tad thick headed. I wouldn't bother with him anymore. He has made his mind up and that is that. I chose not to respond to his nonsense because nothing good would come from it. It is good to warn others of counterfits and fakes, and I commend you on trying to help him out. I hope he posts pics so we can really see what he has.

Part of me thinks he was just unsatisfied with his BK11 and decided to trash the rest of the line. Don't really know weither I believe he even has or had a BK2 or BK7.

Also, if he has posted pics of the logo somewhere, I would like to look at those as well.

I haven't finished reading it yet, but shouldn't you be able to put an edge on an untempered blade. I know it wont keep it, but I would think you could cut paper with it.
 
Ok, I went in and got involved. I'm not a mod there, so, I can play a little rougher than usual.

Thanks for the links guys, he got real BKT/Kabar knives, he just can't sharpen them, therefore they are a POS. Whatever, move along, nothing to see here.:D

Moose, your reply over there was well put.:thumbup:

I dont think his vision is enough to read a stamp on the side of his blade, or sharpen a knife.
 
Thanks slapper, but lets not turn this into a cross forums thing. Lets just say that the guy got some real BKT's and leave it at that. Not much else this thread can do for us, but take it further in the wrong direction. I'm gonna lock it, if Kahn feels this is in error, PM or email me and we can talk about it.
