Some of you have read where I have called one of my FSHs a LMOASH (Leaner MOASH). Mainly because it's the same configuration as a MOASH, but it isn't .345" thick. It's .325" thick.

On the flip side, I have a couple of HOGFSHs. One Variant, and one 2007 SE. They both are around .315" thick.

Does anyone know of the variances that the MOASHs were made in? Were HOGFSHs made in the same color configuration as the MOASH?

Should I call it a LMOASH (Leaner MOASH), or a HHOGFSH (Heavy, Heavy Ordanance Grade)?

If I have the story correctly....that MOASH-like knife you have there was offered in a ganza as a HOGFSH, but there was a snafu and some people wound up with MOASH's instead (at no extra cost....as we all know that Jerry is a real 'giver' :D )

So I would say that if it isn't .34", it's a HOGFSH.

I have a satin HOFSH that is 0.32 and another satin one that is 0.315. I think that it all depends on what they set the cnc finishing machine to. Of course with satin you will get less metal usually, but since they are starting from 3/8 stock they can remove as much as they want or as little as they want.

There is no real reason for the variation, just machine settings is all. 0.345 - 0.350 is probably the thickest they can go satin with, without showing grind marks and dimpling I would guess.

I don't know alot like the Hogs above, but I do know those are some sweet blades Phil:thumbup:

I like the LMOASH......nothing against it, but I REALLY want a "true" MOASH!!!

Rt014 and steelnut are both correct, its the HOFSH originaly offered for the ganzaa, checkout this pictorial on Ken's site

Notice the description "Heavy Ordnance Grade Fusion Steel Heart (HOGFSH) with 8" Double Cut 0.3125-inch INFI blade and Fusion Snakeskin Canvas Micarta handles—photos taken on 08/25/2006" its right on the money.

I believe the double cut HOGFSH with regular snakeskin handles sold for a lot less than the MOASH.

Something to consider when shopping the secondary market.

Yeah, I believe it is a HOGFSH. It was sold for the same price as the MOASHes in that Ganzaaaa. I was one of the ones who got MOASHed without even knowing it at first.

There must not have been a mad scramble for that particular blade at first. Either that or someone tossed one back. I was at a conference in some city or another (no recollection, though I remember what the hotel room looked like) and didn't get to my laptop until an hour or more after the "GO!" post. On a whim, I still sent an email. Lo' and behold, it payed off. If there's a HOG out there who threw this one back and enabled me to get it, THANKS! It's in my top three of favorites (MOASH, FBM SE, ABA LE).

I guess that pretty much answers it then! Although, mine is .325, thicker than the standard HOGFSH. A HHOGFSH? Heavy HOGFHS? :)

Nothing to add to the Ganza notes already submitted - Sold as HOGFSH - most people got MOASH thickness *unless* it was the original score from Knob Creek - ie. the photo knife. Those original samples were the stated thickness.

BTW - My DC FSH-SE is .325" also. Does that make it a DC LMOASH-SE? ;)
