This will come to NO surprise to you good folk here in the Traditionals when you see these two names mentioned in my thread title to do with Generosity......., since Charlie asked me to show a knife here a few years ago, I have never left, the Porch as it's become known of late or simply Traditionals as I refer to it a lot when talking behind the scenes to my friends here is such a great place.

Again, no news is the fact that there is a LOT of gifting going on here- and in this last fortnight I have had two packages arrive lately, they are....

A package from our Jack over the other side of the World in good old England, well Jack doesnt seem to be able to stop giving things away- and he ALWAYS is representing the Sheffield side to the rest of the world by picking up and sharing his vast knowledge and gifting fine pieces of Sheffield away.

Always, along with these treasures that Jack sends, he includes Postcards of a Historic nature of Sheffield - I just LOVE this sort of thing, it takes me straight back to the streets of Sheffield with Sue, Jack and myself as Jack so incredibly showed us around for the day, we also stood outside the Taylor Eye Witness old Factory Building - I jest you not I soaked up what I could just standing outside one of my most favourite Sheffield Brand of knives - there were some big massive Archways that were numbered and I imagined what came and went through those massive doors in the past - Oh Man....

In one of those boxes, crates or however they left the Witness Factory would have been these two big, bad boys.....

Behold the dreaded Taylor Twins......, now these knives were in that building that we stood at one stage - isnt that just awesome!

Jack was having a bit of trouble with these two Sheffield Lads, so ...with Jack being such a Historic thinker- like any Englishman did - he sent the bad boys on a boat to the deep South part of the world - never to return..... Thankfully, this time the bad boys weren't sent to Australia but to the better land of Honest and beautiful people - New Zealand:D

Jack, these two Brutes are just awesome, One I dont think has actually been used!, I have looked pretty hard at the blade and it shows NO wear, NO previous sharpening marks whatsoever, the other has been used, and used well, certainly not abused, both knives have the Bear Trap Springs that these knives are so so well known for, the wood on the knives is just awesome, I simply just gave the more used Pruner a good rub with Mineral Oil and the Grain is just beautiful, a Rose wood of sorts Jack?
Not only the knives, the great Post card, but a coin that Mr Stan Shaw gave Jack in one of their dealings.... man...to have a coin that Stan passed over to Jack, that made it's way to me- now thats a cool cool Coin!

Like the T.V Commercial screams..... But Wait...theres More!!!!

Jack also included a disc that has Stan Shaw being interviewed - with Stan just sitting down and speaking of the days of past, the current days, Stan also speaks of his hands ( Oh man...Stans Hands!!! ) - watching this takes be back again to that day - when again Sue Jack and myself were so privileged to be situated in Stans Workshop for a good hour and a half just a amazing time - Jack my friend...THANK YOU, not only for the most memorable day that day, but for your continuous friendship and generosity. Your Amazing.

Mr. Paul Hilborn will be custodian of one of these Taylor Eye Witness Pruners as he just got a taste of a stunning Sheffield Pruner ( his first Sheffield knife ever ) and its so fitting that Paul has one of these as he is starting to amass a collection of beautiful old Pruners- this is with Jacks Blessing :)

Taylor twins with a great example of Jacks taste in a Sheffield Post Card

The Stamping I always search for......

Jack my friend, once again a massive thank you kind Sir....... The title of the Thread called out two names- the other being another favourite of the Traditionals - and that is Bob...good Old Big Biscuit.......
Now I had NO IDEA that this great knife was on its way to me, I was at work and very busy when a package arrived, I couldnt open it until it was very late in the day, and it was from Bob....I immediately thought...."Bob?....whats Bob up to here"?
I opened the box and Wow..... here before me is a beautiful Kutmaster Barlow with the most beautiful old Bone carefully put away in a protective Material Knife Slip,
Bob...this knife looks to have NEVER been used!!!, the beauty old Bolsters with the CocaCola Stamping are just awesome - the Blades are so so full and pristine...Bob this is a beautiful Barlow - Bob as you guys know has gifted SO MUCH ....in fact we should test Jack and Bobs DNA- theres a chance that these guys are twins separated at birth?

Along with this beautiful Barlow came a awesome wee 1944 Dime - I love these coins, just look at the two very special coins that came with these two very special packages!!!! just amazing!!!

Bob, your generosity is amazing, Thank you so very very much for this marvelous old Barlow, its amazing this...I have a beautiful selection of stunning old Barlows - not the newer ones but ones like this...and nearly ALL have been gifted to me by F.O.T.P ( Friends Of The Porch ) which tells you just how precious this group of knives are to me- and it just grew again - thanks to our mate Bob, Bob my friend, thank you kind Sir, I'm not too sure if you know how much I treasure this knife.:)

Check out this sweetheart.......

I am sorry to go on so much everyone, it's extremely hard to try and explain what you feel when such generosity is displayed before you :o

Duncan, you always give a good write up and this is another great example. I can see why you are blown away by not only the generosity but the knives, etc.

I love reading these stories. It does seem that Jack and Bob are involved a lot. :):D They are both prime examples of what the Porch is about!:thumbup:

What a treat! Congratulations on receiving such wonderful mementos of friendship! Bob and Jack are certainly two mega members, and I love seeing threads on the two of them popping up frequently. I can't stop staring at the Coca-Cola Kutmaster! Those covers are immaculate!

Very nice gifts, Jack and Bob and Duncan

No bottle opener on that Coke barlow??? ;) :p :D (just kidding Charlie and Jack)

Nice oldies for someone who will appreciate them.

Great write up my friend.

You captured the spirit of two of the finest men I am privileged to call friends.
Campbell you are also an amazing person that we are honored to have with us here on the porch. Sharing your treasures with Paul (another of our great and generous members) is a fine example of your character.

I participate on a couple of guitar forums and songwriters forums as well as AAPK and though all are fine sites none of them even comes close to being what this place is and it's because of our wonderful members.

I have only been participating here for a year and a half but feel that I have known many of you for years. This has come from the fact that you all not only made me welcome but made me feel as if I were an intricate part of this place from day one.

I always enjoy looking at fatastic old knives such as gifted to Duncan, I always enjoy to read Duncan posts (you should do it for living :)), but I enjoy even more to read and see the generosity of this forum members.

Great stuff here, Jack and Bob

Mike

That is a wonderful Barlow Duncan :) Well done Bob, a kind and thoughtful gesture from a kind and thoughtful guy :)

Thank you for taking the Turner Twins off my hands my friend, they're a pair of rascals. I hope that once they have to sit apart, they settle down with you and our good friend Paul :) I think the covers are probably rosewood as you thought Duncan

The coin is the one Stan gave me for his first penknife - the one made by his old friend and mentor Ted Osborne :)

Thank you for the kind words folks, great bunch of people here :)

Such great generosity going on here! Both of you are such kind men and a pleasure to know.

Have a great weekend all on the porch:thumbup:

Paul

Duncan, thank you for taking that hideous bastard child Barlow off my hands. I mean really, how could anyone but a mother love such an unsightly abomination. :D:D:D
It was my absolute pleasure Pal.
Well done Jack. Those pruners look stunning in their Rosewood covers and fluted bolsters.:thumbup:

Gentlemen! Please! Please! If you guys don't stop all these Shenanigans you will ruin the reputation of the Porch! People who come here will think that these kind of gestures is common place here! Now for some serious ramblings! Gentlemen I am truly honored to call all three of you my friend! This is the type of thing that makes Traditionals so special. Well done all around to each of you! :D
