Rob,

We just finished watching a Japanese television program about maps, and one thing that was mentioned is that maps in Australia are not only centered, meaning that Australia is in the center, but also that it is inverted, like this:

There is enough strange stuff on Japanese television that I don't trust this, but would rather trust your word.

No doubt, such maps exist, because I was able to find the one above, but I am guessing that they're not that common.

Oh, and while I have your attention, can you tell me whether this map is accurate?

what you expect from a former penal colony?? Just the spawn of criminals down there:p;)

:D

I think it's a little off, I don't see a rabbit infested region, and there's only one poisonous snake region ;)

Ya, but where is Paul Hogan?

Or Crocodile Dundee, for those who don't know his real name?

They also forgot to include the cane toad-infested badlands on this one...might be an outdated version though .

Wait a minute!!!:grumpy:

Just to the right of "Babykiller Dingos" -- where is the annotation for "Freakin' Huge, Lethal Spiders?"

I know they're there. Gaj told me so.:)

Trust me, they do exist, and are available in many tourist shops.

I bought one like this the last time I was in Australia.

Ok, sense I am always coming to the defense of one of my own.........

and I grew up in a "PENAL":foot: colony too;)

I can understand why you would put yourself on top of the world......when its the truth;):D

OH, thats deep and wide!

:D

Yeah, he's famuly and I will hurt you over it:p;)

:D

Ummm, if that's the best you get with your cable/satellite provider, may I suggest that you change providers? There really is more exciting stuff out there...errr...well, sort of!:p

That's awesome Ken!!! To answer you question - yes, Australia is always in the centre of the map, that way the split in the globe happens in the Atlantic and all the countries fit. But having upside down like that, I've never seen before. I guess it's all really a matter of perspective.

What defines 'North' as the top anyway? What if aliens arrived and mapped the earth like this? Hmmmm it'sa ll too weird. I'd get lost. :D:D

Hmm that one isn't quite complete. I live right near the Maneating Koalas, but they haven't mentioned the deadly cane toads in that area. They have mentioned mosquitoes there, but they have failed to mention the 1 inch variety.

Perhaps the most accurate observation is the positioning of Danni Minogue in between Sharks and Giant Spiders. Afterall, she is the singing Great White Funnelweb! :D (I wonder if she is on BF?)

Thank goodness I have Busse Knives to protect us all!!!!! :D:D
