I put a convex edge on this vg 10 steel, it was really sharp After shapton pro 5000. I started carving putting all kinds of pressure on the lock, side to side, mostly downward. Lock held up great, now if I push down hard, I feel a little bit of movement, but not much, no side to side play. My arm tired out, the blade held up very well also. The edge is fully functional. Now the fun part of sharpening it back up.
Tough knife.

This is on my next to buy list... zdp though. Thanks for sharing and making me want to cut something with a caly 3.5 right now.

Yup, I love mine. It's just about the perfect size and shape for an EDC. It's either usually a Caly 3.5 or a Sage in my pocket for the past couple of years.

That's the only regret I have, I wished I bought the zdp. I didn't know this was going to be such a extraordinary knife till I got it in my hand. I may just buy the zdp also.

If I may ask, what determines which of these you'll carry for the day?
Once one of them gets out of the drawer it seems to stay in the pocket rotation for a while. I don't really have a reason for switching from one to the other. I do find the Sage to be more natural to unlock but the extra length of the Caly and it's more pointed blade is nice to have.

Sorry for the late response.

I love my caly 3.5. I debated hard whether or not I wanted the CF version or the VG-10, and eventually broke down and got the CF. I think I'd like G-10 handles with a ZDP blade.
