Hi all.I love Spyderco knives, and I bought a Caly 3.5 off Ebay (reputable seller based in France, but yes,I know...) and I think there are a couple of details that don't check.I seek the help of more knowledgeable members here to get some peace of mind...and I thank you all in advance!

Detail 1: Is that the correct torx screw size?

Detail 2: Isn't the Sal Glesser mark a bit too small?

I'm far from an expert. But I have one.

The "SAL" doesn't look like mine.

And the Torx looks different too.

Do you know the date of manufacture of yours? Mine is pretty new.

Maybe they changed the mark and screw over time?

I have one that is about 6 months old. It's the CF/ZDP 189 Caly 3.5,It looks pretty much like Aquaman's except for the different materials. Sal's signature is identical to Aquaman's. Don't know if that makes yours a fake though--maybe he changed his signature.

Thank you guys. The funny thing is that the seller's picture of the knife isn't anything like what I got.....I think it's time for an explanation.

It does seem a little different than mine as well but I couldn't say for sure if it's a fake.

Sal's logo definitely looks different on yours than it does on every iteration I've seen of it on any Spyderco knife, including my CF Caly 3/3.5 and other models in my collection that feature his mark.

The seller tells me that his supplier buys directly from Spyderco, and that the knife I received is very new.The letters in the barcode are JN,which I think it means October 2014.On the back of the box,at the bottom,it reads "printed in china".That doesn't inspire a lot of confidence but maybe it appears in all Spyderco knives,I don't know.I have a delica 4 as well but I don't have the box anymore to compare.

It may have been a return...sometimes someone will buy a fake and a regular Spyderco, and return the fake in the box of the authentic Spyderco for a full refund. I've read of a few instances of this happening, but something is definitely strange about Sal's logo on that knife. And all of their boxes are printed in China so that's normal, and the box is most likely the box from the original authentic Spyderco.
