I'm looking for a Caly 3.5 with a single blade steel...do they make them or are all Caly's made with laminated steel? Not a big fan of the softer steel scratching so bad...

Thanks in advance!!

They have a Caly 3 and 3.5 in standard vg10 and black g10 handles. They are discontinued now, so you'll have to find them on the secondary market somewhere.

The super blue sprints were also non-laminated, but it's a carbon steel and they're long discontinued.

Sal did drop a teaser recently indicating that Spyderco is working on a new lightweight Caly 3.5. Sounds like the first run will be black frn and vg-10, but I imagine they're still a long way out.

Spyderco does a high polish on most of their VG10 so you will get a lot of scratches on the VG10 specially if you are cutting a lot of cardboard. In my opinion just get the CFZDP 3.5 and don't worry about the hair line scratches . ZDP is an awesome steel .

The outer layer laminate might be softer than VG10, so it probably scratches more?

I don't want to be a bummer, and I could be wrong, but it sounded to me like the frn Caly 3.5 is still pre-prototype. My guess would be like mid-2019 based on what I've read in the past about production lead-times.
