I just scored a Caly 3.5 super blue and wondered if anyone knew how many of these were produced. I've used my Googlefu to no avail but the Spyderco site is down currently which may have that info.

TIA

A claim was made by a member of the Spyderco forum that it was a 600 piece run but no source for this number was cited and no comment was offered by anyone from Spyderco. Sal stated a long time ago that minimum runs in Japan are 1200. Since that time the Japanese Mules at least have been produced in smaller quantities.

One could argue that there has been more than one Japanese Mule, so the total number produced is above their minimum order requirement. Same idea with the Kopa series. Only 600 pieces of each handle material, but 9600 total Kopas. Which is not to say whoever you're referring to was wrong about the Caly 3.5, since it could be viewed as just a variant of the G-10/VG-10 version.

I have a feeling this will be the knife that always haunts me for not purchasing... I simply can't justify the cost right now.
It's a lot of thin, carbon steel blade, though. Such a great combo.

Was tempted to put up for sale about five of my Spydies just for this one.
