If a man likes the para 2 would he like this knife. If so what do you like about it.

Same length of blade (roughly). Caly is actually a better slicer. Caly is lighter to carry and more compact in size. A Para 2 fan would probably prefer to carry a Caly with thin pants or when he's not in the woods. ;)

It disappears in the pocket with that low-rider clip, and it may have one of the highest blade length to closed length ratios of any Spydie. Lots of blade in that small handle.

This is a good question, I've been wondering the same myself. I love my para 2 and have been thinking that the caly 3.5 would make an excellent change of pace. The only thing that has kept me from buying one is my perceived lack of "fun" features. The para 2 is a "fun" knife for me, the compression lock along with the super smooth action is just fun to play with. Lock backs (or mid locks I suppose...) like the caly series, while very functional and reliable, just don't give me that same satisfaction. That fact along with the pinned construction have always meant that when it came down to the 3.5 or something else, I have so far gone with something else. I'll probably buy one sometime soon and be proven wrong.

the caly series are the most comfortable spydercos to carry. that wire clip is perfect for edc imo

Kind of like asking if someone who likes Jeep Wrangler would like a Mazda Miata, since they're have one specific dimension in common.

All valid points above :p Have both and enjoy the Caly's thin handle, good blade size and angle. Easier to carry in a pocket all day too.

I don't see it that way. The knives share essentially the same blade, and their scales are within about 0.5" in length, more or less. The real difference, if any, is that the Para 2 fills the hand just a little more. There are other secondary differences, like the clip and lock, but its not as if one knife is Jeremiah Johnson and the other George Clooney.

And more mountain lions have been repelled by Caly 3.5's than Para 2's. Link. So if anything, the Caly 3.5 is the Jeep Wrangler. :)

Sorry, but that's not the way I see it. The PM2's handle is over a half inch longer, its blade is thicker and it weighs more. It's bulky, blocky, and it's entire "persona" is more rugged and aggressive. Perhaps not quite sharpened prybar vs scalpel, but closer to that than to equally refined cutting instruments.

I have both of them and can't find much difference in the handle ergonomics — they both work very well for me.
