Caly 3 carry/draw question.

I have been a big fan of the Calypso blade. When I lost a Caly Jr. a few years ago, I bought three to replace it so I would be covered for the future. I just got the Caly 3 in CF, and really like it, save for one point. Between the tight clip and smooth scales, I am having a hard time drawing it from the clipped position in my pocket. Anybody else notice this? Solutions? maybe grip tape on one scale?

Lanyards can be attached to the clip. I'm not sure about your situation though. I never had that problem.

You could always bend the clip up slightly to reduce its tension slightly. I had to do the same thing with my CF/ZDP caly

Personally I have never had a Spyderco wire clip feel anything close to too tight. This is the first time I've heard that complaint.

I've noticed this on my UKPK. What I do is stick my thumb in my pocket along the back of the handle all the way to where the "butt" of the knife is in my palm, then push the knife out of my pocket with my index/middle finger from the outside of the pants right into my palm.. ...that way I don't pull up on the clip, loosening it or pinch the clip tighter by pressing on the clip and the opposite scale. One of the bummers with a deep pocket clip is there is really nothing to grab onto. ...with a little practice, the above method works great!

hmmm, I would be reluctant to mess with it for fear of loosening too much...

OK, I can try this, thanks.

Anybody else?

I'd try Archie's suggestion. Sometimes when drawing my UKPK it would be hard to draw, but only because I was gripping the clip itself, and tightly at that. Just play around with the technique and you'll fine something that works. If it's not that then the clip probably will need loosened.
