Which one would you keep if you could keep only one?

I ordered my Manix 2 from an online retailer and thought I'd never get it... But it's on it's way. I also have my caly 3 cf for sale. I can keep only one!

The manix 2 seems beefy, all business. The caly 3 is the best slicer I've ever owned and quite different, rides low and is more friendly.

Thoughts?

Depends on if you like big knives are not.
I've been carrying a SE Caly 3 in G10 as a pocket knife and my mini-manix clipped in my back pocket. Try to keep both but if the real world forces you to keep one or the other...well depends on your if you need a mule to pull a plow or a racehorse for light duty.

Edit: I see on you sale thread that you EDC a Shebbie. Man you don't need either one of these knives then. If its a large Sebenza then keep the Caly 3.

I'd get the Manix 2. More heavy duty. I own neither, though, but I know I'd rather have a beefier knife.

I have the Manix 2 and the G-10 Caly 3 and I prefer the Manix. Both are very good knife but the Manix 2 just fits my style a bit better.

I have the Caly 3 in G10 and love it. I've been looking at the Manix but don't have one. Either way not an easy choice.

Depends on what your needs are. Manix 2 is definitely more robust, but it's nowhere near the slicer the Caly 3 is, and is considerably bulkier, heavier, and less "NKP friendly". Its 154CM won't scratch anywhere near as easily as the 420J2 outer layers on the Caly 3 but, while I was impressed by how well it held an edge, it's still not ZDP-189. Between the two of them, if I were heading for the office, the Caly 3 would win by a landslide but if I was heading out for a hike, the Manix 2 would most definitely be my choice.

All of the above are really on target - but if you have to whittle it down to one (pardon the pun), I really think either way you'll be well taken care of.

To be honest, I use a CF Caly 3 as a hiking blade quite often. It's a great little blade for light bush tasks.

Agree, though at this point there's a lot of overlap between the D4, the Caly3 and the Sage in terms of size. All have similar length blades and folded lengths, and all are available in very attractive steel choices.

Lots of good points here, thanks!
The Manix came in last night. It is a great knife, terrific fit, finish, and feel. It just seems a little big and the blade length is something I already have covered between the Caly, Para Military and what not.
Still, hard to give 'er up! Such a great knife!

I just got a Manix2 in the mail and all I can say is:

Seriously it feels great in the hand. Beefy, hefty. The lock is hard to disengage but the lock-up is rock solid. Also, there's sufficient force holding the blade closed.
The Caly3 is puny alongside the Manix2. I do love the Caly3 for slicing. But in a fight the brawny Manix2 would really deliver a beating to the svelte Caly3.
