Caly 3 Wave Mod (Which ground version will work best?)

I want to grind out the hole on my caly 3 to make it a wave opener but am not sure of the best way to do this.

I have posted three edited examples below. Tell me which one you like (if any) and why!

I'd go with example 1 and grind just enough off the spine so that the logo is gone.
 
Honestly, I would leave the caly the way it is. It's just a perfect folder. Try and find a Delica or Endura that has the wave on it already. The P'Kal is waved but the blade shape is really different.

I have a high speed lathe and plenty of separation disks, grinding tools and polishing attachments.

Are you suggesting the process will be exceedingly difficult or do you just think it would be sacrilegious to make this modification to such a great knife!

I'd go with this option, at least to make sure the wave opening caly 3 suits you, but if you're dead set on waving the knife, I'd follow Charlie Mike's advice - he knows what he's talking about when it comes to this.
 
I didn't say it was difficult i'm just saying there are spydercos with that function already set within the blade shape. But if you want to grind away the caly blade, knock yourself out. It's just a 100$ knife. Nothing sacrilegious about it.

On second thought, hell why not? Post the results, we could be on the verge of a "teachable" moment. Either way it turns out!:eek:
 
I have used the zip-tie method but would prefer a more permanent solution.

If I get the balls to cut her up I will post pictures later tonight!

No I don't because I wasn't around :) But, do you have any pictures or a link?

That one seems rather difficult.
 
I waved my persistence, and it works perfectly. It's closest to your first picture, maybe with a little more overhang on the wave/hook. Then again, it didn't cost nearly as much as your Caly
 
I personally don't have the pics anymore. I sold it a bit after the Plaza show in 2010. It's prolly on somebodies computer or google.
 
Aww that's too bad.

I do think I will grind it tonight though. I just found out someone turned me over to a collection agency and I need to vent some anger / feel accomplished. Let's just hope that's how things turn out.
