First... great knife. Came in yesterday's mail. It's the one I've been waiting for, and it'll be a mainstay in my pocket. I'll definitely buy at least one more of these to put up as a spare.

Second... durn thing opens too smoothly. After carrying the UK Penknife for so long, I expect a half-stop click as I'm opening the knife. The Caly III just cruises right on into locked position. It just feels wrong! :D

I can get used to it though.

I hate it when that happens! Darned Spyderco factory workers doing their jobs right! They should be ashamed! :D

pour sand into the knife, take care of that annoying slickness.

I pounded it with a ball peen hammer this morning. Now it has a natural hitch right in the middle of deployment just like my UK Pen Knife. Problem solved!!! :D :D :D

Yes, very smooth out of the box. I couldn't help but notice it's handling characteristics to that of the mini-Persian. They are roughly the same size and have the same smoothness and snap upon opening and closing.

I really like the Caly 3. To me it's almost a mini-mini-Manix with the same basic architecture. This is going to go down in history as one of the best models. Also, want to point out that IMO this is a much different and improved knife over the Caly Jr. ZDP. To me it's better because of the G-10, jimping top and bottom, double liners, larger radius of the top edge above the spyderhole and blade geometry.
