All this Caly talk got me thinking. First came the Caly and then it's smaller offspring, Caly Jr. How about another generation? I'd love to see a smaller Caly Jr called Caly 3rd!

I work in an office and can't really use a clip so I love small knives. They are easy to pocket carry and do everything I need throughout the day.

The Caly Jr is such an unbelievable knife; great steel, flat grind, nice ergo, real lightweight and beautiful design. For me, a slightly smaller version would be even better. Any takers?

I'd take one of those. Only thing would be that a smaller Calypso would be butting heads with the Navigator. But the Calypso Jr. did that with the Delica and I bought it anyway so no issue with me.

Hey, there is already one of these...called the Dragonfly. It is like a mini Calypso Jr. give one a try. The FRN version is light and strong...

I agree. I have a dragonfly FRN and it's like a mini-Calypso Jr. :)

I think the Calypso Jr. is the perfect size. I wouldn't change a thing but maybe the handle material to G10 :)

I second the Dragonfly suggestion. Not to mention there's a CF version available :)

I don't know if I would be interested in a smaller version. Of course if it was in VG-10, or maybe ZDP-189....

At any rate, in the mean time you might try going clipless. I've been doing that since my clip broke about a week ago. It really hasn't been too much in my pocket. I though it would be too bulky, especially since I already carry a lot. I was pleasantly supprised.

nO, i WANT a caly Jr in g10 and Vg10/zdp189, not anything else.

From what I understand, the Dragonfly is still slated for a facelift. Since it incorporates a full flat ground blade of roughly the same shape as the Calypso Jr, I would guess it will fullfill the role. I realize the handle shape is significantly different, but I believe if you just scaled down the Calypso Jr you'd wind up with something that would not fit the hand well. For a smaller, high-end version of the Calypso Jr that's available right now, you might want to consdier a Kopa.

check out the meerkat, it fits my hand really well but its a nice small blade.

gotta love that locking system too. haha

The Dragonfly is a great knife, but its grip doesn't feel that good to me. I've actually wanted a slightly larger Dragonfly for a long time. LOL! :)

A somewhat smaller Calypso Jr. might work... or it might not. I'd have to handle one first. It's hard to translate the ergos of a larger knife into a smaller one.

BTW...
First came the Caly and then it's smaller offspring, Caly Jr.
Wasn't it the other way around? ;)

Thanks for the suggestions.

I like the Dragonfly but not it's clip. The Caly just has all the good and none of the bad. Maybe if I get it wet and put it in the dryer, it'll shrink.

Weeeel, there is a CF version, but it's only "available" these days if you're very lucky. Fortunately, mine is in my pocket at this very moment. :D :D
