HoB said:I sharpened mine for the first time yesterday (really sharpening on some stones with tender loving care). All I can say is: ZDP is GOOOOOD stuff. Takes an edge like a HC steel.
DGG said:With all this demand they will be around for a while, IMHO. It would be crazy not to keep making and selling them if they are this popular.
Is it really that much better than the last one thay made?
STR said:Will, the steel has a higher hardness and apparently a higher wear resistance and a higher stain resistance (at least the 420J2 part) to the last CJ produced.
Honestly the only thing I don't like about the knife is the color. I mean I can live with it but it is a color that I always think of as a feminine color. When I sold dental equipment the woman dentists were the ones always buying the mauve chair upholstery as well as other trendy colors so that is probably why. But IMO this ZDP189 CJ is also closer to pink to my eyes than it is to red so that is a big part of it too for me. Even my wife said the first time she saw it that it was a good knife for women because it was cute and it was a 'pretty' color.
