These are 2 complete different knives but i want both but only can afford 1

I currently have a bid on a second super Blue caly3.5. This would be my second one but my first is still on its way (making it true customs:grumpy:)
But if i wouldn't win the knife i found somewere to buy them for a good price but that would be the same price as a military wich is the knife i'm already looking at for a couple of months

I am mainly a user but the super blue caly is one i would like another one pure for collecting it and to have a nice display knife. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated :D:D

I'd get the Military first. I have a Caly 3, UKPK, and Caly 3.5. They are very nice knives and I much prefer the 3.5 to them. However, the Military is the best of Spydercos line. It really is the perfect knife for all practical purposes. IMO of course :)

Super Blue Caly 3.5 is a Sprint, so it could turn into one of those "get it now or pay through the nose later" deals. Military is a flagship model that Spyderco still keeps finding ways to refine, so you won't be losing anything by waiting a month, six months, or a year and you might even gain.

As an all-around EDC user, I find the Caly 3.5 to be superior to the Military in terms of ergonomics, size, etc. Its a great knife. That being said, the Military is awesome as well, and I own about 8 or 10 of them. But they are bigger, take up a little more pocket space and so forth.

I'm biased since I find the Caly series to be my favorite in the Spyderco line up. So here goes ... :D

Like noodle has stated, for EDC the Caly 3.5 is hard to beat. It's actually slightly lighter than the Caly 3 (it's smaller predecessor) and maintains a slim profile in pocket. Combine that with the low-profile wire clip and you have a very discrete, easy-to-carry blade. I've been using my own SB Caly 3.5 and must admit that I love the steel. It patinas nicely but has not pitted (and all I've done is just wash and dry the blade - without adding lubricant afterwards). It is super easy to touch up as well and takes a very sharp edge.

The Military is a better knife if you need harder use out of your blade. I believe it can be opened with gloves on as well. CPM S30V (and if you can get it, CTS XHP) is a good stainless steel that will keep a working edge for quite a while. If you are going to use your knife hard, I'd go with the Military.

Ultimately, Deacon's suggestions makes the most sense. Even if you're not crazy about the Caly 3.5 SB, it would be smart to pick one up now and sell it for a profit later and use those funds for a future sprint run of a Military.

Good luck.

If you have huge hands or wear gloves often you'll appreciate the Military. I haven't seen or held the Caly 3.5 but the Military is one of my favorite knives. Of course mine is Carbon fiber so I'm partial to the Carbon fiber Military over the g-10 ones. Also love the Sage1 and Caly3cf but the Military is just something special.

The answer to the question "Which Spyderco?" is always answered by the Military. You're welcome. :D

Not great photos, but they'll give you an idea of the size difference between these two knives.

So i got overbid on the caly and i bought the military in digicam satin blade from cutleryshoppe :D
since i already have the super blue in Belgium but just not yet through customs (wich is slow as ....).

Knowing i'd rather have a new knife that i don't own than owning 2 of the same knife, however with the spyderco sprint it would go up in price if i'd ever want to sell it. Maybe i'll get my parent to buy a second super blue for christmas :D

I know the bladeforums main rule is, when in doubt buy both and for once i can afford that rule :D

Thanks for al the replies and the comparison photo's
