I'm guessing that all other Calypso Jr owners knew this, but I just found out: SFO lists them as discontinued, and put them on sale. I knew they were a limited edition, but now I know just how limited. I ordered a spare, to be sure.

Best regards.

it's coming back again this summer, but in a different steel and with a different color handle.

I wouldn't worry too much about it.

The regular production black FRN Calypso Jr. was disconitnued some time ago.

Sal brought it back in a grey sprint run. That sold well enough that production was continued, until just now.

The Calypso Jr. pattern was also just re-released as a slipjoint for the UK.

And there is a ZDP-189 sprint run due out in the future.

I expect there will always be a knife of this design in production or in works at Spyderco. It is Sal's purest work at creating the ideal cutting tool, and even though it is probably too pure to be a big regular production seller, it will probably always be around in limited production runs as it continues to evolve.

i'll comfirm "it's Sal's purest work at creating an ideal cutting tool"

Thanks Carlos:

That helps ease my mind a lot. I was figuring I would need to stock up. but now I'll wait for all the cool variations.

It certainly is a pure "matter separator" as Sal likes to say.

Best regards.

Now if this "pure matter separator" would just come with a tip-up carry option :(

Aloha ALL!

I agree wit 4 s ter!!!

Tip up option please!!! I been using and carrying Spyder's for years in tip up and down, but I prefer the tip up... :)

God bless

I just ordered my 2nd. Calypso Jr., this time from the SFO.
Ya can never have too many don't ya know.

What a great knife! My Calypso Jr. arrived this week. It's my second Syperco (third if you count the Endura I got my son). I got mine direct from the manufacturer (plain edge available on line). This is a very good design and sized just right for EDC if you have to be discrete. A VG10 blade for about $35?! Amazingly way-cool. :)
