I know the new one will have Zytel handles and a stainless clip but will the Zytel be colored? What is will the blade steel be?

Thanks,
Jon

Ah, the Calypso Jr. Lightweight. Yes, indeed, inquiring minds want to know. Perhaps not as much as my brother's quest for a pink Delica or a Zowada, but as a longtime fan of the Calypso Jr., I'm on the list for one of these babies.

Latest word - end of August, God willing and the creek don't rise.

The handles are black fiberglass-reinforced nylon (like Zytel). The blades are VG10. Price tag less than the micarta and stainless handled versions, a bit more than a Delica.

Thanks James.

VG-10 eh? I suppose that's an improvement over AUS-8? More than any knife I own (including a Benchmade, a small Sebenza and Kershaw G-10 wild turky) I've found that my Zytel Dragonfly winds up in my pocket, in the kitchen or doing things around the house. I just wish it had an extra .5" of blade. Sounds like this lightweight Calypso Jr will fit the bill. As long as VG-10 is at least as good AUS-8 in taking and holding an edge I'll be happy.

I think VG10 is a definite improvement over AUS8A. I have the Moran Featherweight and the full size Calypso and both take an excellent edge and seem to hold it longer than 8A. I'm hoping that they will eventually make the micarta handled version with the VG-10. I don't think that is going to happen. I'll definitely be picking up at least one of the lightweight model. If they release that nice maroon zytel that I saw at the Blade Show then I'll definitely be buying another.
