Calypso JR Lightweight Numbered - Need Opinions

Hi all,

I just wanted to get some feedback on this particular knife that I am thinking of buying from a close friend. According to my friend he purchased it around 2001, its a Calypso JR Lightweight and its numbered 37/100. Its NIB and has all original papers and box. Also the box is numbered accordingly.

I don't know how much this is worth, and neither does he, so I was hoping to see if anyone can shed some light on this particular piece (history, value, etc.). I am purchasing the knife along with a firearm for $800 which would equate to about a $50 valuation for the knife. I don't need the knife but if it's a good deal I will definitely take it.

Any feedback would be appreciated,

Thanks

IMO that is a good deal for the knife. It is a very unique part of Spyderco history, and I personally am a HUGE fan of the fish scale texturing. I paid roughly the same as that for one of mine, and close to 1.5 times that for the other. I think regardless of the variation you're good to go. My cladded ZDP model is newer and has the Spyderco logo imprinted on the blade, but my older serrated VG-10 model is like the one you've shown without the logo. More input on the variation will be of assistance, but regardless I think you're getting a good deal, especially if the knife is NIB or LNIB.

It's a decent deal, at the very least. As with most "collectible" Spydercos, the serrated version is nowhere near as popular as the plain edged. However, the only FRN Calypso Jrs. ever offered in serrated were those original black FRN ones, so I'm sure there are at least a few folks who love both the Calypso Jr. and "teeth".

Scoop it up! Calypso Jr's are awesome near classic knives! Love the wave pattern FRN, or what some people say as fishscale...
