I got my Calypso Jr in the mail yestday and am very impressed. I had always kind of stayed away from the FRN Spydies based on my experience with a old Ladybug on my keychain. There was nothing wrong with it, but the handle feel just didn't do it for me. Anyway, my new Caly feels awesome (I really like the fish-scale pattern) and I can't get over how light it is and yet still feels very solid. It was also scary sharp out of the box. Most of my folders are larger, more "tactical" knives with relatively thick blades. While I keep them very sharp, the Caly's thin blade has shown me a whole new level of slicing ability :D :D

I might have lucked out with my purchase since I don't see it anymore on the Spyderco closeout list. I should have bought 2 while I was at it :( The only "bad" part of this whole deal is now I'm probably going to need to pick up some Delicas, some Enduras, some....

I am loving my Calypso, and up until yesterday I would call myself a Benchmade collector.

See my review in KR&T, I am really happy with the knife. Thank you Sal / Eric / Whoever was responsible for such a great piece.

Now I can forsee myself buying a Manix eventually.

I read somewhere on Spyderco Forum that the Calypso and caly Jr. were Sal's own design. Like it has all what he likes in a knife. :)

BTW A new sprint run in burgundy with a ZDP special super hard steel will be available this summer... :D :D

callies are the bomb!!! but if you could improve on the bomb, I'd take the ZDP189 with grey frn and with the slightly bellier shape of the spyderco UK blade and body....now that would be a nuke!

Damn it, damn it, damn.

Just got in my Meerkat. It's a nice little knife, but I should have bought the Calypso first. Damn.

Never had a knife I liked so much. It's a "lower" priced knife, but it has such a "higher" performance level of ANY knife I own regardless of price. To borrow from another writer "it's a light sabre"

You have caused me to look into buying another one, just in case I loose this one. I don't to be without this knife. To make my Jr more likeable, I modified mine: rounded off the top notch at the back of the blade and cut grooves for the thumb to rest.

the biggest problem with FRN spydies is... You always end up purchasing another one with a different material later. --- Cause there are always people (like me) begging for G10 or SS, and Sal has a soft heart.

I hear ya. I gave away my SE Calypso Jr. to a buddy of mine and jumped at the chance to grab a couple of the PE ones on closeout from Spyderco. Glad I did, now that I see they are sold out.
