Hello Forumites!

I have noticed many glowing posts about the Calypso Jr. and plan to get one of the lightweights in VG-10.

The larger, micarta handled model is also flat ground according to Spyderco. Though the blade is not VG-10, is the big brother as good a cutter as the smaller version - the pocket scapel?

Anybody have both to do a comparison with?

The large Calypso does in fact use VG-10 for the blade and it is phenomenal. Unfortunately, they have been discontinued by Spyderco but they still can be found if you look around. Mine is a plain edged version. Jeff/1911.
Jeff/1911.

I have both models. Th small is AUS-8. The large is VG-10. Calypso Bros.
The small is sold pending receipt of funds.
The large I used alot. I beat the crap out of the handle. The blade is wicked sharp and was retouched once. I will let it go if you're interested. E-mail me for the deatails.

I only have the micarta Calypso Jr (actually it's the Experimental model) and, although I really like the knife, the handle is alittle too small for me.

I have both and they are both standouts. They are not for heavy use, but are dandy gentlemen's knives.
