I just traded for a CAM III slipjoint. In trying to research the brand I've come up with the information that CAM III stands for Charles A. Mahon, who owned a surplus store in Vacaville, CA and had served in Japan in the Air Force. At some point in the 70s? 80s? he had knives made for him in Japan and sold them in the states possibly through JC Penny. They were apparently quality knives and made with good stainless. I am wondering if anybody out there knows any more than this. There seems to be a grand mystery as to what his knives are worth these days and any other information about the man himself.
I'll be shocked if anyone can tell me more, but also grateful.
