I am trying to get a rough idea of the years the camco #229 knife was made. It looks like as early as 1951 but have no idea how long they produced them. I did not see the camco #229 in the 1978 and up catalogs.

Thanks for your time.

When did the 229 become the 27? the 1770? Any other model numbers these went by??

I seem to find these dirt cheap
I like the way the screwdriver blade is really thick

Does the bottom one have a different shape blade?
Or was it just sharpened too much?
On the top one===>Do you think the bail hole position has been moved??

Trent Rock,
The model #229 is a CAMCO brand (CAMCO was first used in 1948)
#27 is a Camillus brand
#1770 is the governemnt model number

Camillus made millions of electician's knives.

The bail position in the first knife shows it to be an earlier model ?1960s. Note the extra pin.

I think these are great knives with just the single blade and new furniture.

Like the bottom one here.
