Anybody know what kind of steel was used in the Camco knives made in Taiwan? They have an inexpensive set (lb folder, fixed blade with gut hook) and I was curious about the kind of steel and quality of the steel heat treatment for these knives. Thanks.

Man, you just plain cannot expect much out of a three knife set with the Camco brand name, made in Taiwan. At the price point those things sell at, it is totally unreasonable to think you are going to get quality steel, heat treat, handle or sheaths. Camillus never did try to pawn the Camco brand off as anything but second rate, and that has not changed.

Imported CAMCO knives were made in China, not Taiwan.
The only knives Camillus imported from Taiwan were the Heat series of assisted openers, & they were made from AUS-8A

I have a couple of the knives in the Heat series.
I was favorably impressed with the knife and the steel.
Took a good edge and held it. The assisted opening mechanism worked well too.

I don't know anything about any Camillus product from China.
I haven't seen any.
