Camera Connoisseur

IIRC that's the new Canon that was announced recently. Looks great.

FYI if you have any experience with older Hasselblad or Mamiya 6x6 cameras, you will end up having a very familiar experience composing pictures on the back screen, it's actually really great.

If you're really looking for a top notch compact camera with all the bells and whistles then I would steer you to the Canon G10. Incidentally it has both a back screen and a good zooming parallax adjusted viewfinder. Can't beat the G-series in the compact camera world. I have the G9 and love it.

In general, the reviews tend to like the Canon point & shooters the best, but they like the Nikon digital SLRs the best. dpreview.com is a great site. You can trust them.

After really liking my Nikon dSLR, I bought a Nikon point & shoot, but after using it for a while and after reading reviews I wish I'd purchased a Canon - it was an impulsive buy.

if you want a canon and point and shoot, get the g10

it has the ability to save the file in a raw format which allows greater freedom in postprocessing on the computer
