Theres just too many darn choices out there, so I figured I'd ask for some opinions here. My gf's birthday is coming up and I want to get her a new camera. She just needs a simple point and shoot that takes decent pictures. She mostly just uses it for pictures of friends and family at gatherings and what not. No need for tons of zoom or any really fancy features. $100-200 is about what I'm planning on spending and it has to come in pink or some other girly color.

I bought my niece a really nice little Sony a couple years ago and she loves it. It was pink.

Now days I'd rather spend the money on an IPhone; the 8 mp camera is pretty good once you get a good app (shutterbug).

For point-and-shoot cameras, I'm a fan of Canon.

Theses are from an older model, the PowerShot SD1200is. Not sure what the latest version of this is named.

Happy shopping!

I will second Bob W's recommendation for Canon power shot cameras. Canon was my go to brand for point and shoot until i got my DSLR

Canon was kinda the way I was leaning, so that may be the way I go. I have the next couple days off so I might have to run to the best buy thats 90 miles from here and check out the selection. The pics you put up are pretty good Bob W. I really like the clouds and the vineyard?

For P&S I'm most familiar with Canons also. I've got an SD700IS, SD870IS, G11, S90 and SX220HS. Simple intuitive menu controls, usually above par image quality, the new CMOS sensors allow much faster shot to shot times and HD video. Check out DP Review for more info.

I am a big Nikon fan. Their point and shoot series is pretty affordable and reliable. I use their DSLRs.

My first digital P&S was a Nikon Coolpix 4300 about 9yrs ago. Since then I switched to the Canons but my DSLRs are Nikons - a D70 and D300. Lately I've been using a Panasonic FZ150 the most though, and leaving the DSLRs at home.
I steered away from Nikon P&Ss for a while because they weren't up to the same quality as Canon's. I heard that's been changing lately though.

Thanks for the help. I searched around on best buy's website for an hour this morning and I think I've decided on what I'm getting her. I think its going to be a Canon PowerShot ELPH 300 HS. It gets pretty good reviews and the price is right at $150. It only comes in red or black tho, so I might look around a little more. I'll look at some Panasonics and Nikons more closely.
