Camillas Pilot Survival Knife Mods

Hey everybody, has anybody ever done any mods to this knife? Particularly with the guard. I would live to hear and see some pics.
I have one from 1981 in excellent condition but I feel it could be improved on.

A lot of people cut off the top of the guard or bend it over.
