Hello everyone,
I am pretty new to bladeforums, and am hoping some of you Camillus officianados may be able to help me out with some information.
I've purchased a new condition Camillus 18-Xray from a gentlemen in Syracuse NY by the name of Ron Passardi. Ron told me he worked at Camillus for better than 35 years and ran their costing department. I picked up this knife from him at gunbroker.com.
I got the knife from him Friday afternoon, and as soon as I saw it I was a bit surprised. It has serrations, but the rest of the blade isn't sharpened. Saturday morning I emailed Ron about it. He came back in an email saying "OMG, that knife was part of a 100 piece special order and I must have pulled it from my collection by mistake, mail it back to me and I will send you one with a sharpened edge".
I intend to send the knife back to him for replacement, I know he must have enough as he put another up for auction as soon as I won this one.
I have included some image links below of the knife for your viewing pleasure. If one or more people knowledgeable about this knife could answer a few questions, I would very much appreciate it.
1. How many total 18 X-rays were produced?
2. What year were they produced?
3. How many were shipped to the military?
4. What is the value of a New copy?
5. Would the non-sharpened 1 of 100 be worth more than a normal production copy?
Thanks in advance,
Les.
