Any ideas of what to do with this. The knife was hardly ever used and seems to be a shame to just throw it in the trash!

It still has a factory fresh edge for pete's sake!

Go ahead and toss it.

This was a very common problem with the MLK knives, or 'demo' knives as they were called. Especially after about 1970. I don't know what they did different, but the back springs were not there for the long haul. I carried one for a while when I first went into the army, but that one had the problem as well. I ended up buying a pocket knife at the PX and using that.

Or keep it!

I have 1965 Camillus that the spring broke on the can opener.
I super-glued the spring so there is no pressure on the spring when opening, but holds the can opener in place when I use it.
I used it thru my Israeli Army service for a long time.
It worked fine and opened lots of cans!!!

There was no online purchasing a Demo from the US to Israel then!

Bellasdaddy - I just emailed you; let me know if you don't get it. (Couldn't PM you here.)
