Got this Knife 30+ years ago its New in Box.. Blades are so tight i need Pliers to open.. I did the Razor Blade thing and left them in for 5 Days.. Was a little help but not enough to use this knife..
The last thing i want to do is replace the rivet.. Any help would be Much Appreciated.. Thanks for your time Folke !

Did you try flushing it with oil, and working the blades a bit? Sometimes some WD40 will help get out whatever grit and gunk is in the pivot from the manufacturing process and loosen the blade up some.

The knife it self is Clean, Clean, Clean,.. Over the years i have Oiled it and worked the Blades to no Avail.. Sad to say i think the Rivet needs to be replaced and that is Beyond my Skills.

Why do you think the problem is the pivot?
Not sure what else it could be.. The Knife is brand New never used super clean. No dirt no grim. I have spent time looking around and from what i have seen it just points to that rivet being toooo tight.

Welcome to the forums.

One reason I'm not a fan of pinned knives.

If you decide to buy a new knife, let us know what budget you have and want kind of blade you want and we will be happy to recommend some knives.

As for fixing your knife, I'm no help. Good luck.

For the most part, when big traditional type knives such as a folding hunter don't open easily, it comes down to one of three things - grit in the pivot, an overly stiff spring action, or your fingers just aren't strong enough......

As stated.. No grit or grime very Clean.. Has to be stiff spring action.. Fingers are just fine !

I have a couple of large trapper knives, a Great Eastern pioneer, and a Moore Maker, basically the same knife, except the Moore Maker has a lock on one of the blades. They are VERY stiff to open, and nearly jump out of the hand when they do finally click into full open position. Really almost need a pick to open these two. And have to be very careful when closing them, too, they will snap at you like an angry turtle. Despite all that, I like them for hunting trips, they are just right for a lot of things, and give you two sharp blades to complete any field dressing tasks....Maybe get a knife pick and just live with it?

Yes Sir.. Sounds like Just the Ticket... Thank You !

I think the 26's are just prone to having very strong springs. I have one where the main clip blade opens ok (strong spring) and the secondary blade is so hard to open you need a pick or pliers (very, very strong spring), I've tried a number of remedies but have not achieved success.
