Camillus 4-1/8 boot knife

I have one of the old models made by Western. I really like mine. It takes a really good edge and holds it for a long time.

I use to have one of the old western ones also. I remeber the blade on mine being kinda thin, and flimsy. Still agood knife though. Perhaps they different now? I had mine about 14 years ago, or so?

Is it full tang? I should hope so. I'm been itching for one as my fixed blade concealed carry(i love my bk7 but it is a bit too large sometimes depending on what I'm wearing). Well, if anyone has a recent one, could you tell me if they are particularly flimsy? The only reservation is that the blade might be too flimsy. Could anyone enlighten me? Thanks...

yeah.. it's got a full tang.. I found out it's made from 440c.. not bad..and yeah.. that's what I'm intending to do with it.. carry it on my boot.. although in retrospect it might have served that purpose better if i'd ordered the smaller one..

I should be getting mine in a few days.. I'll post a bit of a review of it when I play around with it a bit.

Oh, and rev_jch.. my experience with Camillus is that there knives do nothing but get better and better.. chances are any flaws they had a decade ago are fully worked out...

I'd like to know where did they say it's 440c.... I only recall seeing that it's only 440 in a catalog. Usually that's 440A

yeah... it's 440a.. or so it says on Actiongear.com

I just got mine today.. if I could find my steel.. I'd give it a wiked edge and play around with it today.. but man is it a sweet looking knife

The "Valox" scales look very FRN, and the leather sheath is ok. Too bad the leather sheath was kinda bent in one way during shipping and when I put the knife back into the sheath, I unknowingly poked a little hole at the tip end of it.
The black coating is quite well done, but I think they need to work on the edge. There were burrs on the edge, and it was quite visible as it got near the guard. Also, when I was trying to remove the burr using the Spyderco 204 sharpener, I found that one of the edges have a bevel larger than 40 degrees. I guess I have to reprofile that edge somehow.
Nevertheless, the knife is still quite nice.

I've got the kydex sheath on mine.

Funny.. when I got mine, the edge was a bit dull, but it was otherwise perfect. odd..

I think I'm going to have to take the powder coat off.. since it's already scratched....
