Anyone have their Camillus Aftermath yet? How does it compare to the Cuda Maxx? At twice the price, I'm wary of buying it right away. I like my Maxx, I'm wondering what's better about the Aftermath. Do you like or dislike the Robo assist?

You can see my impressions of the Robo mechanism here . I'll reserve my final judgement until I play with a shipping production model though.

Ive got one on the way, should arrive early next week, cant wait to get my hands on it. ill let you know how it operates.:)

I've got my Aftermath now. Been carryin it for a couple weeks. It's really nice!! Feels more "Solid" than the Maxx. I have a regular 5.5" maxx which I carried for almost a year and a 7" maxx on the way :).

The Aftermath is an elegant knife. Great to look at, but it's tough as nails just like the Maxx. Impress all my friends it did :)

As for the ROBO feature... as far as I can tell, that's personal opinion. Personally, I find the original Maxx to be better because the ROBO system is one more thing to go wrong when you need the knife the most. However, the aftermath blade is heavier and kinda needs it. Also, the Aftermath blade stays clsoed much better than the Maxx(I've had the max open in my pocket before and it's bad) due to the ROBO feature.

IMHO you should get one. It is an extremely well made knife. If you can't be convinced then go to a knive shop or show and look at one. Open it a few times. Get a feel for it. It's my EDC right now and I'm proud of it(except when the law is asking questions :)) the blade is still 5.5" but it's wider :) It has a bigger "belly". I'm sure you've seen pictures. Mom didn't like this one(she's a sheeple).

K, have a good one!!!

I have the Maxx 5.5 and a newly acquired Dominator. I just got the chance to handle the new Aftemath. The robo mech is a hoot for this size knife, but I didn't like the edges of the "flames" on the handle and prefer the smooth handle of the Maxx. Otherwise, a fine large folder. I absolutely love my Maxx, and haven't put down the Dominator since I got it.

Comparing the Aftermath and Maxx is all a matter of degree. They are both among the best knives I have ever handled. Both are well suited to both utility and defensive tasks. And both are tougher than any folding knife has a right to be.

It really comes down to which blade shape you prefer, which grip fits your hand better, and whether you like or dislike the ROBO mechanism. I've always been a sucker for a nice recurve and my hands like orthopedic grips, so the Aftermath has become my EDC. ...but only just barely. I still love my Maxx too and I end up carrying at least a couple of times a week.

I've had the Maxx for over a year, and really like it but 6 weeks ago I latched onto the Aftermath, and really like it better for it's thicker handles, and just feels like the custom version. I handled the custom version but could not afford or justify the $700 price tag. I like the robo assist now that it is broken in but I like that type of action as it is like having a legal auto, and has a lot of toy factor. They are just enough different to make them both great knives.

One of the reasons I got the Aftermath is because I liked the look. the flames on the sides are what caught my eye.

The handle is more comfortable than the maxx.

...So I'm left standing there at teh start of my day thinking...

"EDC, Maxx or Aftermath..."

So now I carry both :)

Solves all my problems.
