Howdy All,

I've been collecting my fair share of Camillus knives for some time, and have recently grown fond of the knives produced right before, during, and right after WWII. Unfortunately, there's one knife from the Camillus "knives that went to war" (page 34 of the 1946 catalog) advertisement that has been eluding me. It's titled the "Army Post Exchange Resale Knife" and would be equivalent to a modern day radio jack, with a spear blade with a bottle cap lifter:

I can't seem to find any useful information about it, what it means to be a "post exchange resale knife", or even if it was in covered in bone or wood. So, two questions:

  • Do any of you out there in BladeForums-land have one of these that you could post a photo of?
  • Do any of you have any more information on this knife?

Thanks for the help!

I believe the knife was made for issue and after that they were sold in the exchange. Don't have one but if you get this moved to the Camillus area of the forum I am sure Vit_213 in Russia has one.

Jordan, you are not alone. I have looked for the above knife, without luck, for 3 years. While there is military contract info on the other "Knives That Went To War", I've found nothing on this pocket knife... which leads me to believe that it was not issued and was indeed a PX item. I need that one and a spatula for a complete collection... and I need to get started on a display case someday!

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one looking, but sad that one hasn't turned up.

Agreed on the contract info. I was hoping for those documents to provide at least a little information on it like size, scale material, production numbers, etc.

I haven't seen any reference to this knife in any of the other Camillus catalogs either.

The search continues...
