hi
i am new here and looking for a nice small edc, i saw a camillus cuda with aus 8 steel and wondered what people thought of it, the seller said it was made in america and i was nervous about the later made taiwan models. were cudas made in Aus 8 made in the US and are they high quality??? would one in 154 cm be much better
thanks!!!

the cuda made of 154 cm is being sold for $150 and the one made of Aus 8 is $100, do these seem like reasonble prices, any other suggestions for a compact edc with a blade 3 inches or less for under $150?

If you're asking about the Camillus CUDA EDC , it was available in a US made version and later on as an import. The imported AUS 8 version can be bought on the auction sites for about $20.00

The US 154CM versions are considered collectible and fetch a bit more.

Unless your asking about another model.....

I'm with JPD. The asking price on those Camillus blades seems a bit high.

I can think of lots of excellent 3" bladed pocket knives that go for less than $150.

Aside from a 3" blade, what are your other requirements?

i was thinking of something that will fit well in a pocket with keys and and then be able to be useful in a variety of tasks from self defenses to cutting fruit
thanks

If you want a fantastic stainless steel framelock, I can highly recommend the Kershaw Storm I or II ( the II is bigger). You can get them for around $35.00.

Both models are flat in the pocket and very well made.

I have the II and it's one of my favorite knives , I like it better then some of my knives costing 2 or 3 times more.

If you're looking for a really reliable small knife, Spyderco has a lot of them, the Ka-Bar Dozier line is similar and at around $20, real bargains, For a small, elegant folder in really good steel, try the Benchmade Monochrome. (I hadn't realized how inexpensive this one was, also.)

+1 on the Monochrome. Got one in my pocket right now.

The knives below cost less than $100, have excellent steel, are well made, and have 3" blades.
Spyderco Delica
Spyderco Native or Native III
Benchmade 707

I've never come across any model of knife with an AUS-series stainless steel blade made in the States.

That being said, $100 for an imported Taiwanese CUDA seems a bit far-fetched, though $150 for a 154CM version would be a bit more realistic in the whole scheme of things.

That being said, I believe you can have a lot better offerings that offer superior performance at a lower price point. There are numerous offerings available from Kershaw (I really have enjoyed the Needs Work I purchased as of late), as well as my stand-by, Spyderco (e.g., the Native, Caly3, Delica...the list goes on...). I have my Centofante IV in my pocket right now and love it; great design with Spyderco's great VG-10 for under fifty bucks on the street.

I got a Camillus Heat (440, Spanish made) from KW, ~28 $. (It'll be a collectible piece, don't bother the steel. ;))
A had several years ago an AUS-8 EDC model, it was an excellent EDC utility - but it were too small to my hands. :(
(Fortunately now here is the Kershaw Blur line, with similar good ergo and premium steel types. :))
