Hello All.

I acquired a Camillus BK-2, the serrated GS model.
The serrations seem dull to me. The plain edge area of blade slices through paracord with little effort, but not so with the serrated area of the blade.

I don't have any experience with sharpening serrations as of yet. Anyone with experience in this area; perhaps specifics to Becker serrations?

Would it be wicked thing to grind the blade to be entirely plain, and not worry about it any further?

Thanks.

Have you got any pictures?

You might want to get some round diamond stones for the serrations. I'm not exactly sure on the size or the uniformity of them but they might work. I don't have a lot of experience sharpening serrations, but the ones I did I messed up... Badly! I didn't use the round stones though, I just went over them like normal.

You can try a fine diamond rod that is tapered as long as you take your time your should be able to bring them back to a useable form.....at least that's what I did on my lmf ii. I did an equal number of strokes on each serration and they turned out alright.

Really fine grit sandpaper (like 1500 2000 grit) and wooden dowels the same size as the serrations are all you need . Cut some narrow strips of sandpaper and roll it around the dowel tightly and strop backwards in the grooves trying to keep the factory angle, strop the back or flat side of the serrations after . That should be all you need.

If you have a sharpmaker you can use that to sharpen the serrations. I've used it to sharpen my combo edge tenacious.

Yeah, and after you F this up, you can do what you should of done and grind the crap off ;)

All my edc folders have serrations. Using a small ceramic rod or a tapered diamond rod I have had no problem keeping them sharp. I wouldn't grind them down, unless you just don't like serrations. I have always found serrations useful for bigger or harder things than paracord. Paracord is very easy to cut with any sharp plain blade.

Is it stripped?

Yep. Stripped, mustard and vinegar treatment. Didn't like either all that much, so I buffed the BK2 and my BK7 with a some 000 steel wool. Other than needing another set of micarta scales, and more Becker's in general, I'm set with the BK2.
