FINISHED see post #21 for final result or scroll down to see the work in process :)

------------------

Since i got my Camillus BK7 I loved the knife. When the Ka-bar model came out I could not resist the 1095CV steel and ist’s warranty. The two knifes live happily together although only one gets a regular workout. The 0170-6C soon became my well loved ‘’safe queen’’. Seeing all those pic’s of pretty modded knife’s it made me think. So I desisted to mod my Camillus BK7.

I’m going for a nice striped shiny finish. I already modified the kabar handles to fit the shiny Camillus.

Today I stripped the paint. Its hard stuff even after 3 times and 60 minutes later there is still some paint residue left. It’s easy to see where the paint is worn out and where it is removed by a chemical. Pic’s of this first step will follow.

This is where I started from:

undressed! The wearing out of the coating left a nice effect, It looks a bit like the edge of a Katana. Will be a lot of sanding work left to get this steel completely naked.

Love it. Have loved it since the first time you posted up pics of those grivory scales. Plan on doing mine at some point in the future that is going to be sooner rather than later. Any chance I could get you to post up these pics in the Becker Modifications Thread? Would love to see this in there.

cool! have fun with that grivory mod. I'm planning to make pics and post about the complete project. Sure go a head with the pictures for using them in that modification thread

all rights reversed ;)

Hi guys! ist been a while since i did some work on this project. I took the first stap in sanding/polishing the knife. The spine and front of the handle are a b!tch to work with. When the coating was removed it showed a very rough factorycut. After a metal-file and 200-400 wet sandpaper it looked a lot smoother.

The knife is also completely sanded and working on polishing the flat grind area till ist nice and shining, but I’m out of sandpaper. There is still a lot of sanding/polishing work to do.

The Camillus handle is 3mm thicker then the Kabar one. I first tried green lines but the material from xbox game boxes is to brittle. So black kydex 1,5mm liners for the handle it was. (A other color for lines might come in the future). They black ones are barely visible under the black handles. They give the kabar Grivory 3mm more thinness so the handle feels like the original Camillus. Done so the Camillus BK7 and Kabar BK7 both fit my custom sheath. Also feels much better in the hand.

What’s next:
- Polishing the flat part of the blade.
- Sharpening.
- Wax coating
- Black paracord for a lanyard and to secure the pouch the the sheath.
- Stainless bolts and nuts (also for the Kabar BK7)

It’s a black-on-metal-on-black theme. Although it will be kept as a safequeen its needs to remain battle ready if needed. How do you like it now?!?!?!?

I just had a sweet idea inspired from a different tread. The lines will be in color’s of the Dutch national flag: red white and blue. Red kydex, blank steel and blue kydex sandwiched between black grivory SWEET!

I found a picture with the most stereotypes ever, to screw a lil with your mental images ;)

project news!

After an few hours more polishing the blade looks like this. Is still needs colored liners and stainless hardware to be ''finished''. The black kydex liners and regular hardware are just practical, for now.

Proost with those beers! The blade is coated with multi layers of car wax. Cool for its looks and smells even better....not so much for food processing.

I don' think I've ever seen multi-color liners before. Thumbs up from a guy with a little Dutch heritage

Looking forward to seeing the results.

Stainless hardware update! Thanks to lhanley for your generosity and afford!

The colored liners still need some work to finish it.
