I've come into possesion of a new condition Desert Tan Camillus BK9 (box says BK91).

I love this thing, but before I start to deforest my back yard, I am wondering how rare this model is and what kind of value is associated with it. Seached the "bay" can't see it find one.

If it's not on the bay (1) it is rare (2) everybody likes theirs and will not sell it. If I had one I wouldn't sell it.

If I had the knife & it was unused, I would be inclined to keep it that way.

While I have not seen the new Beckers made by Ka-Bar, I did speak with a dealer last week who said he got some of the new Beckers in his store and was very disappointed. He said they are not nearly the knife that the old Camillus made Beckers were. Even the blades are made of thinner stock, according to what he said.

Thanks for the input and all the great information!

I can't stand having things sit in the closet and would feel guilty using this beast in the field :P May just try and swap it out for something less rare.

Cheers,

i'll put this out there (off topic post btw)
The Ka-bar Beckers are every bit as well made and functional as the old Cami ones. Yes, their stock is thinner, but it's that way for a reason. The thinness gives you a lighter weight, better cutting capabilities, and more balance in the knife. The knives do not have a strength issue at all because the heat treat is excellent. The Ka-Bar Beckers have been put into a vise, bent 90 degrees, then bent 90* the other way without breaking. The new production BK3s have field stripped a sedan, and even though it broke at the hook, they were trying to pry off the cotter pin, which is NOT going to budge with that amount of leverage. They continued to de-roof the car with the broken BK3.
Not saying that the Camillus produced versions were worse than the Ka-Bar versions, and not hating, just trying to put that out there. Thanks for putting up with me.

I am good....I have both:D

Unfortunately I didn't know about Beckers in time to score a Cami one.
:(

The Camillus Knife Company was very nice to me when I was deployed my second time. If I knew they were going on strike/bankrupt in those days, I would gotten more. I will always have nothing, but great things to say about Camillus.
