I just purchased a Medium sized (7" overall) camillus Boot-Knife with the multi-carry style synthetic sheath (horizontal, vertical, neck, IWB, detachable clip). However it is single edged! I'm not complaining since double edged knives are illegal where I live. I was just wondering if anyone could give me a little background on this neat little item.

Hey Stick,
It sounds like you are describing the Terzoula CQB2. Are the handle scales a greenish, canvas micarta?
Hope this helps.

recondoc1, you are correct. It is a CQB2.

Stickfighter2 - the Terzuola designed CQB knives were patterned after the maker's M30 Battleguard custom fixed blade, with the exception of the lack of guards. The CQB knives were designed to carry comfortably in any mode. All of Terzuola's designs are good performers and with the CQB's this is no exception. Camillus improved on an already outstanding factory fixed blade by releasing the smaller version that you have. It's even more compact than its bigger brother and also fits some hands better than the bigger one does. IIRC, the CQB's were the first fixed blades in Camillus' CUDA line. The false edges of these knives can be sharpened with a slack belt grinder if you wish. Fellow moderator davidb415 had someone sharpen the false edge of his CQB2 with no problem at all.

Thanks for trying guys but, this is the standard Camillus CP75 model with the exception of the fact that it is single-edged. It cost $20.00 brand new in the box from the Sportsmans Guide catalog. 440A steel, with plastic coke bottle shaped scales over the full tang. It's a neta little piece of steel, and its on my hip in the IWB sheath right now. ( It makes a nice little companion to my Camillus USMC Combat knife) Oh well, I guess it's just gonna' have to remain one of life's little mysteries!

Hmm ... 1SKS doesn't have a picture, and http://www.camillusknives.com/ has no mention of a single-edged version, but www.knifecenter.com has it listed as CM74K, Camillus Single Edge Boot Knife w/ Kydex Sheath -- http://store.knifecenter.com/pgi-ProductSpec?CM74K

Cougar,

THAT"S IT!! As I said it's a nice little piece of work. The handle is a little small for my size X-Large mitts, precluding the sabre-grip. However considering that this is more of a thrusting tool, the standard or natural grip works just fine. I'm thinking of ordering the larger model just for the sake of having the "set". Hey for $24.00 with shipping included how can I go wrong? Especially when, as I mentioned in the first post, the single edge makes it (technically) legal. I just wish that Camillus had a little more info available on these two items. I can only guess that Camillus was responding to a demand for their standard boot-knife without the legal hassles associated with double-edged daggers.
Thanks Cougar.

BTW - I almost forgot to mention, with the factory supplied IWB sheath, can anybody say "Drawpoint"?

Stickfighter2,
I believe you are correct that Camillus was responding to the need for a "legal" boot knife. If you are thinking of getting a "set" hurry. Camillus has discontinued both sizes.

I don't see any mention of a single-edged version of the longer model -- not at the websites I've checked....

Stickfighter and Coug,
Yup, this is a single edged version of the standard Camillus Boot Knife. We made them a couple of years ago to see if there was enough demand for a single edge version. Well, there really wasn't

So what Sickfighter has is one of that run of knives that is being closed out. Sportsman's guide bought a bunch of them, but they are not the only dealers with them if you are looking.

Thanks for the interest and for being a customer!

I have one of the double-edged models made by Western before Camillus bought them out.
I really like mine, but I've always wondered what steel was used way back then (early 80's). Do you Will or Phil, know what was used? Thanks
Brian
