OK. I want a Camillus boot-knife. It's primary use would be for self-defense situations. Should I get the small or the large version (3 1/8" blade and 4 1/2" blade respectively I believe). Also, are they fairy concealable-friendly? Lastly, does anyone know of some good blade training available in Northern Cal?

I have the small version, CP75. It's a cool knife, with a black leather sheath. I bought it at least ten years ago at a gun show here in Sweden. The price tag is so low, that you should buy both if you can't decide on the size. Note that Western also produces basically the same knives, but with a wooden handle.

Get the big one. The extra inch or so in overall length is not going to be noticeable. They are fairly flat and easily concealable, and are a greatly underrated knife in my opinion.

If we are talking about the same knife I bought the western version
about 20 years ago. I figured I would give the small one to my son, and keep the big one for myself. Never had a son, so I still have both

Thanks for the help guys! The pretty brown truck should be visiting my house within a week or two. :D

I had the small western. I really liked it and waqs able to get it really sharp. The dagger grind was pretty flat and cut well. I kept it in my boot when I was a biker for "urban utility".

The only time I have on boots that my "boot knife's" sheath would clip to is when I have on my motorcycle boots. I've had a small, double-edged Gerber Guardian for a long time. It's never been sharpened and has seen very little use. I don't really carry it for defense, although it IS pretty sharp. It's purpose is, if I ever crash and I'm hung-up by clothing and need to cut through it to get out, it might be handy to have a knife clipped to a boot. A few days ago, someone told me that all double edge knives are illegal. Is this true? I know that I haven't seen any Guardians on the shelf for a long time, and wondered why. They used to be pretty popular around here. (Ky.)

Thanks,
Will

Apogee, Do you go to Cutlery Works at the Chico mall? My grandparents live in Chico and I visit the store every time I go up there. The owner is a real nice guy, I've bought many knives from him and he may be willing to work with you on prices. He also gets A LOT of first production run Benchmades.
